What You’ll Need

  • Ripe watermelon chunks, rind, and seeds removed (pro tip: use seedless watermelon chunks to save time!)
  • Lime or lemon juice
  • Lime or lemon zest
  • Liquid sweetener if your watermelon is not very sweet
  • That’s it! No fancy stuff, just pure refreshing goodness.

How to Make

  • Blend those juicy watermelon chunks in a blender, or if you’re feeling strong, mash them right in the Ninja Creami pint container.
  • Add the fresh lime juice and zest.
  • Give it a taste. If your watermelon isn’t sweet enough, add a little bit of sweetener. Maple syrup or agave syrup works great!
  • Fill ‘er up! Add extra water or coconut water to the max fill line if needed.
  • Place storage lid on top of the pint and freeze for 24 hours. Make sure you freeze on a level surface.
  • When you’re ready to indulge, place bowl assembly in the machine, and spin on the sorbet setting.
  • If it’s still a bit powdery after the first spin, hit the re-spin button. If it’s extra crumbly, add a few tablespoons of water, too.
  • And voilà! You’ve just whipped up the most refreshing frozen treat of the summer!

Can I make this into a Slushy?

You sure can! If you are making this in an original Ninja Creami, spin on sorbet, then add water and spin on milkshake.

In a deluxe, make the recipe and don’t up it to 1 1/2 times. After freezing add water to drinkable line and spin on slushy.

Can I use different types of melons?

I used yellow watermelon in some of the photos, but red or even orange work just as well. It’s all about the sugar content of the fruit. Cantaloupe and other melons work well, too. There are so many fruit sorbets to make, and honeydew sorbet is the next on my list.

What if I don’t have a Ninja Creami machine?

You can freeze the mix in ice cube trays. Then, let it sit for a few minutes before adding it to your blender, food processor, or juicer to make a soft-serve sweet treat.

Can I make this recipe sugar-free?

Absolutely! The watermelon provides plenty of natural sweetness. You only need to add additional sweetener if your watermelon isn’t at its peak. You can add in applesauce or pureed pear instead of
