The Ninja Creami has changed how I make vegan frozen whole-food plant-based ice cream at home. It easily transforms simple whole ingredients into a creamy, delicious frozen treat.
The Ninja Creami Deluxe version has new features and enhancements to explore, but you can make all Ninja Creami recipes in either model with a few adjustments. Plus, there’s more hands-off time than with a traditional home ice cream maker.
Why Use a Ninja Creami?
If you are new to Ninja Creami, you may think it’s a blender or a traditional ice cream maker, but it’s a different animal in the kitchen. You blend your liquid ice cream base in a blender, freeze it into a solid block in the container for 24 hours, and then put it into the Creami to turn it into ice cream.
It’s a game changer for whole-food plant-based ice cream because we use fruit sweeteners and do not add any fats. But the ice cream from Ninja Creami is scoopable, thick, and rich.
You can make creamy ice cream, seasonal fruit sorbets, a smoothie bowl, Creamicinnos, slushies, and other frozen treats. You can even make frozen cocktail recipes in it!

What about the Ninja Creami Breeze model?
The Breeze model works the same as the original Creami but was discontinued. It has the same button options as the original and uses different 2-cup pint containers from the original. Unlike the two we discuss in this post, it does not have an outer bowl.
I own all 3 models and use them regularly. If you have an issue with your Breeze or any other models, contact Ninja support, and they will help you.
Ninja Creami Deluxe vs Regular
Both the Regular and Deluxe Ninja Creami models are designed to create ice cream, sorbets, smoothie bowls, and other frozen delights easily. Each model has unique features that cater to different needs.
Original Ninja Creami: Features and Benefits
- Seven pre-set programs for various frozen desserts
- A compact design that fits easily in limited counter space
- User-friendly controls, making it easy for first-time users
- Slightly cheaper than the deluxe
- 2 cup containers that are perfect for 2 servings
Ninja Creami Deluxe: Features and Benefits
The Ninja Creami Deluxe builds on the functionality of the regular model, adding several enhancements:
- Nine pre-set programs, including a special Creamiccino function
- Larger 3 cup containers for bigger batches, perfect for families
- An enhanced control panel with more customization options – you can spin only half the container
- Improved motor for smoother, more consistent results
- The containers have special markings for drinks
Key Differences Between Ninja Creami Deluxe and Regular
Here are the main differences to help you decide:
Capacity: The Deluxe model has a larger capacity of 3 and the original pints hold 2 cups.
Settings: The Deluxe offers additional programs, including a dedicated Creamiccino function and settings for drinks and Italian ice, but with adjustments you can make the same things in your original model. See my creamicinno recipe for more details.
Control Panel: The Deluxe features an upgraded control panel with more customization options, giving you complete control over your creations. You also choose to spin the whole container or only half of it in the Deluxe. It’s not a function you will use very often.
Price: The Deluxe is slightly more expensive, but honestly, I say either model is great. Right now, you can get the Deluxe at Costco and the original at Sam’s Club. QVC usually has deals on it too. Or check for sales on Amazon.
Can I make Creamicinnos and Drinks In the Regular Ninja Creami?
Yes, you can make Creamicinnos with the regular Ninja Creami. Just follow the same steps but split the mixture into two pints for freezing and processing. Spin on lite ice cream or sorbet, then add liquid and spin on the milkshake setting.
How do I clean the Ninja Creami models?
Both models are easy to clean. The pints, lids, and blades are dishwasher safe. Wipe down the machine with a damp cloth to keep it looking new. For best results, place the parts in the top-rack dishwasher, though with my recipes they rinse out easily enough.
I try to avoid dishwashing as much as possible to ensure that the containers last as long as possible.
Also, make sure to run water through the outer lid to dislodge anything that may have gotten inside there. Finally, clean off the end of the rod with a clean damp towel.
What types of non-dairy milk work best for Creamicinnos?
Oat, almond, and soy milk are popular choices for their creamy texture. You can experiment with other non-dairy milks like flax or cashew. It’s really all about what you prefer.
You can use decaf, regular, or even grain coffee substitutes too.
Can I make other vegan drinks with the Ninja Creami?
Absolutely! You can make smoothies, frozen chai, and other frozen drinks using the same basic steps. If you buy frozen drinks in the summer having a Ninja Creami ice cream maker will pay for itself fast!
Are the Ninja Creami pints interchangeable between models?
The pints are designed to fit specific models, so they can not be interchanged between models. However, extra containers can be purchased separately for convenience.
Both the Ninja Creami Regular and Deluxe models offer fantastic options for creating vegan desserts and drinks at home. Whether you choose the compact and budget-friendly regular model or the feature-rich Deluxe model, you’ll be able to enjoy a variety of delicious, creamy treats.
